Brigid Feely

Brigid believes that Midwifery is based in the understanding that pregnancy, labour and birth are normal physiological processes that carry significant meaning for woman, family and community.

She believes it is an instinctive primal experience, founded in the principals of health and well being, recognising that conception, pregnancy, birth and breast-feeding are natural life processes.

That the practice of Midwifery is both an art and a science, that consists of sensitivity to the needs of woman and families and meeting their needs in the most professional and appropriate way. It involves knowing when and how to intervene to promote safety with practice that is evidence based to deliver best practice.

Brigid is a registered nurse and midwife.  Her midwifery pathway commenced at Mater Mothers Brisbane in 1984 and continued there until 1989.  After 2 years overseas and three children Brigid pursued a professional career in health management.  In 2006 she returned to Midwifery and completed her Masters of Midwifery in 2009. She works part time at The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital as a Midwife.  Her professional interests lie in Continuity of Midwifery care, mothers birth journeys and post natal care of mothers infants and their families and believes in the long term benefits these bring to woman.  She is currently studying for her lactation consultancy Certificate.  She passionately believes in the Know Your Midwife program that supports her philosophies.

She also cares for her family of a supportive husband and four children.  She pursues her love of gardening and her bee hives.
